Introducing GenX Junior of Junior’s Bourbon Hall

Hello Howdy and welcome to Junior’s bourbon hall which is my home bar.  My name is junior, and I am GenX.  I enjoy what I like and if I don’t like it don’t’ give a damn.  I am also interested in many many things, so I bounce around on what I like to do.  I have been trying to get a YouTube channel going and all I have been doing is making drinks by following a recipe.  This has given me some success but not much and well I probably wouldn’t be watching it either as you don’t really learn anything.  My fault and the last 4 months I have been watching others and trying to understand what they do. What I have learned is every channel I follow teaches you something or gives advice on what they are doing.  Now some of the drink channels are faceless and show just how drinks are made but their camera and video work are amazing.  I might try this but need to be able to teach or entertain. Interests:  I bounce around between all those things and like to discuss and entertain around them.  The “Experts” say you need to Niche down and find a problem and solve the problem.  I think maybe my problem to solve is just to entertain people for 5 min. a day and forget about the world.  I am the NICHE.  I have no clue if this will work, and I will continue learning and growing and maybe bring some of you other GenX with me or teach the other generations a few things. So come along GenX and enjoy everything I enjoy and maybe help me learn or be entertained by things you do.  I understand technology but I also have a problem with the video and recording and making things look great so you will see some raw footage and stuff that you may not see with other channels and accounts. That will be part of the fun. Favorite Things: Thanksgiving is my favorite Holiday Best Beers are Stouts and Porters. Oktober Fest is the best beer and should only be brewed and sold End of September and Oktober. The best teams to follow are the Badgers.  Football and Basketball.  On Wisconsin NFL Team, I follow is the Packers.  Da Bears Still Suck Horse Racing my favorite Track is Churchill downs but, Tampa Bay Downs is a close second. Love the Triple Crown First Saturday in May is a big party. Love golf as in playing and watching.  Yes, it can be like paint drying but, those guys are good. The best golf tournament is the MASTERS.  Favorite cocktail One that is made at home.  Besides that, it is the Old Fashioned.  Friday nights in Wisconsin are O.F.F – Old Fashioned Friday. Nothing better than a cigar and a bourbon, beer, or cocktail. Poker is a great way to get together with friends.  One of my favorite games is No Limit Hold ‘em but, I also really enjoy Omaha. Most of you won’t know what Sheepshead is.  This is a German card game mainly played in Wisconsin and parts of Atlanta. My favorite Bourbon is Old Forester 1920 and anything else that is BiB.  (Bottle in Bond) Favorite distillery to visit is Bardstown Bourbon Company. Thank you for reading leave a comment let me know what some of your favorites are. Junior.

A Winning Hand: Playing Poker and Sipping Bourbon

Howdy, all of you bourbon enthusiasts and poker aficionados! Today, we will discuss two timeless pleasures and combine them together.  That is bourbon and poker. poker and bourbon.  The two are like peanut butter and jelly; they always go together.  The setting is a game room, friends’ basement, garage, or a bar.  You have your best buddies with you and are about to sit down for a night of bourbon and poker.  The following blog post explores the joy of playing poker with a glass of your favorite bourbon.  So, shuffle up and deal, and enjoy a bourbon. Before diving into the game, let’s talk about the brown liquid that will elevate your poker experience – bourbon. Whether you prefer a smooth, mellow bourbon or a bold and spicy one, the choices are abundant.  Choosing your favorite bourbon is your choice.  There are so many to pick from. You can grab a rare find or a common everyday drinker.  Remember, there’s no wrong way to enjoy bourbon; the journey is half the fun! Having the right setting is key to a great, relaxed poker game.   Get the music going, prepare the cards and chips, have the tables and chairs configured, and ensure everyone has a beverage.  Then fire up the cards and get them in the air.  Ensure everyone is prepared to have a great time for the evening. Poker IS a game of strategy, but some good luck always helps.  For the times you have some bad luck, grab your bourbon, take a sip, and let the bad luck go.  You could even say you are drowning your sorrows in it.  When you have good luck, grab your glass and cheers. Bourbon has a unique taste to all the different varieties and bottles out there but comes from the same three ingredients (Generally).  51% corn or more, rye, and barley.  The sweeter bourbons have some wheat in them as well.  Every deck of cards has 52 cards, which makes for an endless opportunity for good and bad hands.  On every hand, you will have friendly banter, share stories, and let the bourbon and cards enhance the camaraderie around the table. As you play into the night, break down the bourbons everyone tries at the table, almost like a tasting in a poker game.  Discuss why each person likes the one they are having and why it is their favorite or a new one they want to try.  This will be good for those unlucky players who bust out early.  Sit back and enjoy the bourbon. Playing cards and drinking bourbon, relaxation, friendship, and enjoyment are the keys to a great evening.  Combining the two creates awesome experiences you will discuss for years to come.  The camaraderie at the table is truly what makes the evening. So, fellow bourbon enthusiasts and poker players, let’s raise our glasses to a night of laid-back fun, and may your hands be blessed with good cards and even better bourbon. Cheers!

Home Game

Howdy and welcome to the first post in the gambling section.  This past weekend decided to hold the first home game since January.  Thought everything would go smooth and get the group together as we have not been together in about 5 months.  Ooops I was wrong. People decided not to respond to the request to play late cancelations caused a last minute request to others to play Beverages not right and ran out to get correct drinks Lesson learned is to send reminder emails and texts to get the crew to respond and have a proper count to be prepared.  Also send out emails and texts with the invites.  This way I am communicating with the gang twice at the same time to ensure they get the invite.  I might want to start using an app or something to communicate and RSVP from the group.  Look at this going forward. With the proper count you can have the correct drinks for the people arriving. I personally enjoy hosting events like this and to ensure that the gang have what they like in the house to drink as well as snack on during the evening. With the drinks and attendees taken care of it was time to get the house in order and get the new chips out and the app for the tournament up and running.  Created the event in the app and then somehow exited the app on the iPad and it was gone.  Shit another 30 min. wasted getting the event configure.  Poke around the app and realize I was on finished events and not all or new.  Well that was an great end user error.  panic over have the event created and players ready to go. The event kicks off about 6:00 – 6:30 PM with beverages and cigars on the patio.  People started arriving cigars lit beverages in hand smack talking and catching up started.  The last person to arrive was running late so round two of beverages in hand.  Last person arrives with a great gift of a Boon County Bourbon aged beer.  That will be enjoyed at the next card night. Get the brand new chips purchased for the home game.  First time in use and was worried about the new chip curse for my the owner.  Start the tournament with 6 players and away we go.  First hand is won by the player that wins a lot of first hands and in this instance was his Downfall.  Fist out and he gets to watch from the side lines.  Game moves a bit slowly and then the drinks start to kick in and the remaining 5 open up and start gambling.  Bing bang boom player gets short and then recovers.  Person that generally gets knocked out early is playing well grabbing some cards and makes it to 3rd.  Myself and another guy that are hyper aggressive make the final two.  We generally play the person and not the cards and many hands are either monsters or ace high.  Couple hands into heads up a general nothing flop he goes all in I call and pair of nines takes it down. 2nd place on new chips is a pretty nice placing. Oh well better luck next time and will get the group together for normalcy in July. Thanks for readying Junior
